First, it was campaign signs sprouting with spring flowers, then enthusiastic sign waving at busy intersections, and now with ballots cast, the voters have spoken in the four spirited races for the South Lane School District Board of Directors. As of 11 p.m. on election night May 20, two races were determined and two are still too close to call. For the Position 1 open seat, retired schoolteacher Diane Hicks prevailed over farmer and homemaker Rayla Campbell by 450 votes.
