POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (WV News) - It's just about time for softball playoffs in West Virginia. However, things will be a little different. With softball expanding to four classes, there will be four state champions crowned in South Charleston this year. The Wahama Lady Falcons received the No. 1 seed in Class A Region IV Section 2, while the Hannan Lady Cats got the No. 5 seed. The Lady Cats will travel to play the Calhoun Lady Devils Monday, with the winner playing at Wahama Tuesday.

RACINE, Ohio (WV News) - On top of the hill once again. The Southern softball team defeated the Eastern Lady Eagles Friday 7-6 evening in a River Cities game to win its second-consecutive Tri-Valley Conference Hocking Division championship. The game was called with just under five innings played due to rain.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WV News) - Marshall University announced the contract for athletic director Christian Spears will not be renewed in the new year Tuesday. Spears has served as Marshall's AD since February 2022 and his contract is set to expire in March 2026. “We are grateful for Christian’s passionate leadership and substantial contributions to Marshall Athletics,” said Brad D.
