    IRONTON — Bond was set at $1 million Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court for a Lawrence County man charged with nine counts of rape and 11 counts of sexual battery. Michael S. Bishop, 39, of County Road 182, Kitts Hill, pleaded not guilty in the case. If convicted, he could spend life rest of his life in prison. In an unrelated case, Samuel Conley, 36, of Township Road 1021, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to four counts of rape and 10 counts of sexual battery.

    IRONTON — Eight people were indicted on felony charges in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court earlier this week. The charges generally don’t end in prison sentences under Ohio law. An indictment is a formal charge made against a person by a grand jury. It does not establish guilt or innocence.     BARBOURSVILLE — More than 50 years since releasing its first set-titled album in 1973, when it comes to the greater worldwide music community, the British rock group Queen is still considered one of the best rock bands in history. The Huntington Symphony Orchestra, with a rock band performing with them, will carry on the legacy of the band with a performance of “The Music Of Queen — A Rock Symphony” at Barboursville Park at 7:30 p.m Saturday.

Tommy Gregg returns as manager for the Coal Cats. Gregg has 35 years of professional experience, ranging from player to skipper, with three in the Appy League. He coached for the Pulaski River Turtles for a season before his time in Huntington.
