TACOMA, Wash. — Pierce County prosecutors charged a second teen Monday in connection with a mass shooting at a Spanaway house party in March. Two people were killed in the shooting and four others were wounded. The second suspect, 18-year-old Christopher Cobb, was arrested in Des Moines Thursday night and had his first court appearance Monday afternoon. Cobb is facing a charge of first-degree assault for allegedly firing off shots towards people at the house party.

The Northwest School of Innovative Learning, referred to as NW SOIL, was a private special education school in Tacoma that closed in January 2024. It was owned by Fairfax Hospital. Two families filed a lawsuit against Fairfax Hospital, Tacoma Public Schools, and the University Place School District for the alleged abuse their children experienced at NW SOIL.

GRAHAM, Wash. — A man convicted of killing another man outside a Pierce County bar was sentenced to 15 years in prison. Alec Ausbun was sentenced for second-degree murder with a firearm enhancement. He is also ordered to three years of community custody following his sentence. The family of 25-year-old Danny Stanley said that sentence is not enough. His family and friends spoke Tuesday in court, addressing the judge and Ausbun.

TACOMA, Wash. — Two of the three teen suspects arrested in connection to the deadly shooting of a Tacoma teen in February appeared in court Monday. The two 16-year-old suspects were arrested on Saturday and each face one count of first-degree murder and one count of conspiracy to commit murder. One of the teens also faces a charge of unlawfully possessing a weapon.
