The nonprofit Literacy In Community, known as LINC, took to the train tracks on Tuesday for the 10th annual "Reading on the Rails."New York children and their families took part in the event, hopping on the subway with their favorite books and meeting kids from across the five boroughs who were doing the same. "We do spend so much time staring at our phones,” said Kevin Raymond, of LINC.

The MTA is bringing more bathrooms to subway stations across the city after they were closed off during the COVID-19 pandemic. The bathrooms have been reopening on a rolling basis, and there are 128 subway station bathrooms that are now available for commuters who have to go on the go.

A green market in Fordham is bringing fresh produce to the Bronx all summer long. The market, located on E. 192nd Street, just off of the Grand Concourse, is being run courtesy of Grow NYC. Family in mourning after loved one killed in alleged domestic dispute

The family of Reynaldo Luna, 63, is in mourning after police found Luna stabbed to death in a Soundview apartment. “In his house, there was never scandal or nothing. And he never had problems with a single person,” said one of Luna’s sisters. Police say that Luna’s body was discovered on Sunday morning in a Soundview apartment building. They charged 52-year-old Mirda Degracia with second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Students in the Bronx watched the United States take on India during the final match of the T20 Cricket World Cup being held in New York. Albert Einstein School of Medicine in Morris Park brought together cricket fans alongside the team that represents the school. The school’s cricket team started in 2022, made up of doctors, scientists and students of the school. “I didn't expect cricket [to be] so popular here,” said one of the team members.

Sheila Anderson and her mother have resided on East 222nd Street for over three decades and say their new private dumpster has become a public eyesore. “Everybody that passes by just keeps dumping, because they see a dumpster,” said Anderson.

These students took “no days off” to another level when it came to their education.
