SALT LAKE CITY – Utah’s on track for a busier wildfire season. At the same time, cuts on the federal level could mean fewer firefighters and fewer resources are at the ready to help the state respond. Fire forecasters are keeping a close eye on the weather as last year’s growth becomes this year’s problem. Monsoons coming in too late or too weak could raise fire risk above normal, said Basil Newmerzhycky, a meteorologist with Great Basin Predictive Services.

The Supreme Court on Friday overruled a lower court that kept in place legal protections for humanitarian parolees from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. The Trump administration wants to shut down that program, which allows people from those countries to come to the United States temporarily.

MURRAY — Shoes are a necessity for children to go to school. They provide protection, give a sense of security and help students to fit in. Still, many students have to wear shoes that are ill-fitting, no longer functional or may not be able to afford shoes at all. Intermountain Medical Center in Murray partnered with the Murray School District and Murray Education Foundation to provide shoes for the students in need.
