The path of that tornado started near Truman Road and MO-291 in Independence and continued on for more than 3 miles. There were no injuries, but one man was lucky to have escaped unharmed.

    INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — After tornado warnings, tornado watches, flash floods and severe thunderstorm warnings hit the Kansas City metro Tuesday, reports of damage across both state lines have been rolling in. On the Missouri side, damage has mostly been reported around the Interstate 70 corridor, near the Truman Sports Complex and in neighborhoods throughout Independence. Around 2:30 p.m., the NWS said it was tracking a possible tornado near the Truman Sports Complex near I-435 and I-70.
