United Way of Benton and Franklin Counties gets 5k Donation for BooksThe United Way of Benton and Franklin Counties is giving more back to the community, thanks to a generous grant from The Wildhorse Foundation. The group gave 5 thousand dollars to the United Way to get books into the hands of local kids. It's part of the partnership between the United Way and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, where age-appropriate books are being mailed to kids 5 and under each month.

Walla Walla man arrested for voyeurism; police say he tried to film woman in bathroom

A 21-year-old man was arrested for voyeurism after filming a woman in a public restroom at Whitman College in Walla Walla. Just before 11:00 a.m. Thursday police received a call from a woman who said a stranger was following her. The woman pointed out Maxwell Grady to arriving officers. Grady was questioned by police, but released because he hadn't committed a crime.
Fire crews contain blaze to Finley home, though it's a total loss

Fire crews from Benton County Fire District 1 responded to a house fire, which they say is a total loss with nothing but rubble on the foundation. They confirmed Wednesday morning, that it was fatal. One occupant was unable to evacuate the home in time and is suspected to have died in the fire. Another resident did manage to escape. At 5:45 Wednesday morning, multiple crews raced to a home off E. Finley Rd. and E 403 PR SE, in Finley, as the fire engulfed the home.
Benton County Deputies search for car thief after crash

Benton County Sheriff's Deputies are looking for a suspect who stole a car and fled the scene after a crash. The Benton County Sheriff's Office responded to a vehicle theft in Benton City off Carol Avenue. Deputies say they attempted to stop the driver from fleeing, but they turned off the lights on the car to avoid capture. While officials were searching the area for the suspect and vehicle, they received a call that there was a crash near where the stolen vehicle was last seen.

7:30 AM UPDATE: The fire has grown to 1000 acres, according to government data. That number has yet to be confirmed by fire crews on the ground. Evacuation orders have been reduced to Level 2 for only the 1600 block Thorp Road area, which means be ready to leave at a moment's notice. Contact the fire or sheriff departments if you are trapped or need assistance. Firefighters are currently on the scene of a wildfire in Moxee, which broke out around 11 p.m. last night.

Firefighters are currently on scene of a wildfire in Moxee, which broke out around 11 p.m. last night. It broke out on Alps Trailer Park and Thorp Road. The 1600 block of Thorp Road is under level 3, Go Now, evacuations. The evacuation boundary expansion include: Birchfield Road to Gamache Road, Gamache Road to Faucher road, Faucher Road to Konnowac Pass Road, Konnowac Rass Road to Yakima Valley Highway, and Yakima Valley Highway to Interstate 82 and to Burke Road.

A fire is burning in Yakima this morning. It's located near Keys Road and Dyke Trail, and it reportedly started last night at 10:30. Officials have confirmed crews are on scene and no homes are threatened at this time. Unconfirmed info has reported the fire to be about 20 acres in size and is burning on the east side of the river. It appears to be in the north end of Sportsman park. A dozer and DNR resources have been requested. More details are expected.
