A Chicago man stabbed his wife to death in their Lincoln Square apartment, prosecutors alleged Tuesday, attacking her even as their young children ran into their father’s bedroom when they heard their mother scream. A Cook County judge ordered Nurmuhammed Inus, 35, detained while awaiting trial during a hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building. He is charged with first-degree murder in the killing of Mairunnisa B.

A 35-year-old man was charged Tuesday in connection with the Saturday fatal stabbing of a 29-year-old woman in the Lincoln Square neighborhood, Chicago police said. Nurmuhammed Inus of the 2700 block of West Balmoral Avenue was charged with first degree murder in the fatal stabbing of Mairunnisa B. Osman, police said. Osman, who lived in the West Ridge neighborhood, was discovered Saturday after a fight with Inus inside a residence where he lives, police said.

A 25-year-old man was fatally wounded Tuesday morning in a drive-by shooting in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, Chicago police said. Shortly before 6:45 a.m., the victim was outside in the 700 block of North Spaulding Avenue when a vehicle pulled up and at least one person inside the vehicle opened fire, striking the victim multiple times, police said. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In a memo sent to CPD officers Thursday morning, Superintendent Larry Snelling called for the department to support the deceased officer’s colleagues assigned to the district. “This was undoubtedly a difficult scene for her fellow officers within the district,” Snelling wrote.

Teenage boy wounded Wednesday night on Lower West Side

A 17-year-old boy was listed in good condition after he was wounded Wednesday night on the Lower West Side, Chicago police said. Shortly before 8:30 p.m., the teenage boy was entering a parked car in the 1700 block of South Clinton Street when he saw a white sedan with four people inside, police said. The four people exited the sedan, pulled out weapons and opened fire. The victim suffered a graze wound to the right hand, and was taken to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in good condition.

A toddler was among four passengers sent to an area hospital after a traffic crash Tuesday night on the South Side in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, Chicago police said. Shortly before 11:30 p.m., officers responded to a traffic crash in the 7100 block of South State Street. Preliminary information indicated a silver sedan was traveling west on 71st Street when the driver disregarded a red light, striking a black Jeep headed north on State Street, police said.

A 66-year-old man argued with car thieves early Tuesday morning before an exchange of gunfire erupted on the Lower West Side, Chicago police said. Shortly before 6 a.m., the victim, a conceal carry license holder, was outside in the 1100 block of West Cullerton Street when he saw two people near a parked vehicle and an argument ensued, police said. A weapon was displayed during the argument with the 66-year-old man who pulled out his weapon prompting an exchange of gunfire, police said.
