Chicago police responding to a call of a person with a gun in the Hegewisch neighborhood were led on a brief chase and fatally wounded the suspect who opened fire after he crashed in Hammond, Ind., Chicago police said. Shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to a call in the 13400 block of South Baltimore Avenue for a person wanted for aggravated battery, and saw the suspect enter a vehicle.

Officials were called to a fire at a school overnight on the Northwest Side in the Dunning neighborhood, Chicago police said. Shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday, police and fire officials were summoned to a fire at Chicago Academy located in the 3400 block of North Austin Avenue, police said. Officials extinguished a fire on the third floor of the school that was closed at the time the fire broke out and no injuries were reported. The Chicago Fire Department was investigating.

A serious car accident was reported Friday night on Church Road in front of Indian Hill County Club in north suburban Winnetka. Details on the accident were not immediately available Friday night or Saturday morning, but there was a heavy police presence in that area. A 22-year-old woman was listed in critical condition after she was shot multiple times while sitting in a vehicle early Saturday morning in the North Lawndale neighborhood, Chicago police said. About 4:20 a.m., the victim was sitting in a vehicle in the 1400 block of South Kenneth Avenue when someone approached and opened fire before fleeing the scene, police said.

Shortly after 1 a.m., officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 300 block of West Marquette Road and found a wounded 15-year-old boy, police said. The boy told officers he was walking on the sidewalk when he was approached by an unknown male and an argument ensued. When the argument became a fight the male pulled out a weapon and opened fire, police said.

The gunman fled the scene. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Chicago police are questioning a person of interest after a 33-year-old man was critically wounded Thursday night during a domestic disturbance in the Kenwood neighborhood. Shortly after 11 p.m., officers responded to a call at residence in the 4800 block of South Drexel Boulevard. A 33-year-old woman was involved in a domestic incident with a 33-year-old man who pulled out a knife. A 14-year-old boy then pulled out a weapon and shot the man.
