    An autopsy will determine how a man died after his lifeless body was found on the Near North Side street early Saturday, according to authorities. The body was found on the ground in the 800 block of South State Street around 1:15 a.m., according to Chicago police. The man who was believed to be 30, but whose identity wasn’t immediately released, suffered unspecified trauma to his body, police said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

    Human remains were discovered over the weekend in a Cook County forest preserve near west suburban Wheeling, according to officials. The skeletal remains were found on the west side of the Des Plaines River at Dam No. 1 Woods West near the 700 block of South Milwaukee Avenue in Wheeling after a caller reached out to local police just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County Forest Preserve.

    A Cook County judge on Saturday ordered a South Shore father detained after authorities said he left a loaded handgun unattended where his sons played it and were shot. The father, Derrick Taylor, 32, was not present for the detention hearing at the Leighton Criminal Court Building where he faced felony charges for child endangerment and felon possessing a firearm, according to court records. Taylor remained hospitalized for a mental health evaluation following his arrest on Thursday.
