Kenni Burdette is a tenacious and dedicated animal lover and after years of helping out the Henderson Animal Shelter, she realized that great dogs needed to get out in front of families. “I kept pushing. What do we do? What do we do? What do we do? We’re not doing enough. And that’s kind of what pushed open our doors of our foundation,” Burdette said.

Gordon Rossi described the pools of water around his Somerset Park home as similar to an asphalt swamp bog, adding that stepping on the wrong spot would trigger air bubbles from the ground.

Herb Cohen served aboard the USS Cavalier, an attack transport deployed to the Pacific Theater during World War II. For him, the reality of war was stark. A kid from New York, Cohen said he wasn’t prepared to go to the Bronx or Brooklyn, let alone active combat.
