LNER said it released the footage to highlight how body worn cameras help keep the railway safe. One video shows a member of the public swearing and becoming aggressive towards an LNER crew member.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves last week confirmed that a government hub, home to 2,600 civil servants, would be built within the York Central development. The planned hub is part of a government commitment to move civil service jobs away from London to other regions. David Skaith, the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, said the hub will be the “anchor tenant” for York Central and “turbocharge the development as a strategic site”.

Patience, a Channel 4 drama set in York, has returned to the city this week to film the second series of the show. Filming is due to start at York Minster tomorrow (Wednesday, June 18). The drama follows Patience (played by Ella Maisy Purvis), a young woman with autism who works in the criminal records department for ‘City of York Police’.

Jonathan Dyson welcomed the findings from His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS) following its latest inspection report published today (Wednesday, June 18). The service was inspected between December 2024 and January 2025. It followed HMICFRS’ 2022 inspection which deemed the service to be 'inadequate' at efficiently keeping people safe and secure from fire and other risks, and found it must make urgent improvements.
