April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Violence Free Futures is working to raise awareness and educate the community. The organization helps around 6,000 people locally, but they said the need is much greater, with one in every four people in the Miami Valley experiencing some form of sexual violence.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A commercial business district in Dayton is asking for art submissions to beautify silver utility boxes. Wright Dunbar, Inc. is looking for Ohio artists to submit designs for wrapping silver utility boxes in the Wright Dunbar Commercial Business District. Designs should be inspired by the Wright Brothers, Paul Laurence Dunbar or another inductee listed on the Dayton Walk of Fame. The top 10 designs will be chosen through voting on social media, from which the Wright Dunbar Inc.

It’s Distracted Driving Awareness Month and law agencies like the Ohio State Highway Patrol is working to prevent crashes and educate drivers. Since 2023 and the passage of the Phones Down law, which made texting and driving a primary offense, OSP reported a drop in crashes and crash fatalities.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Nearly 100 people spent their Good Friday participating in a walk for justice and peace through the streets of Dayton. The group consisted of several local social change organizations, all advocating awareness for different issues like sexism, transphobia, poverty and more. Leaders of the walk say it’s all in effort to increase visibility of available resources and show others how to get involved.
