DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — One non-profit is helping victims and families experiencing trauma with thoughtful care kits to help them in times of need. Lakes for Love has been around for nearly a year, and the woman behind the organization says it’s all about helping children in the community. “There are so many parents and children that experience this and they don’t know what to do,” said Sam Lakes, Lakes for Love founder. Sam Lakes founded the 501(c) non-profit last year.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — Haitian migrants in Springfield are bracing for the end of Temporary Protected Status, with the city saying it will not go against federal immigration orders. At Tuesday’s city commission meeting, residents voiced their concerns. Despite the challenges, Springfield Mayor Rob Rue says he is personally striving for humane treatment of migrants. “Going to speak for myself as these are human beings that are here, and need to be treated humanely,” said Rue during the meeting.

VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) — I-75 is shut down in both directions near Vandalia as crews work to remove a power line. Several trees and powerlines have been knocked down due to the strong winds and severe weather this evening, including a “high tension 3 phase power line” across I-75 near Northwoods Boulevard. Montgomery County reports this power line has closed all lanes of I-75 north of I-70. Drivers are urged to seek alternate routes.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — This year’s Dayton Air Show headliner has arrived in the Miami Valley. 2 NEWS was at the Dayton International Airport as the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds arrived on Wednesday, alongside several other performers for this weekend’s air show. While the Dayton Air Show featured the Air Force’s Blue Angels during its 50th show last year, this year will feature the Thunderbirds — six F-16 Fly Falcons.
