Lakes for Love has been around for nearly a year, and the woman behind the organization says it’s all about helping children in the community. “There are so many parents and children that experience this and they don’t know what to do,” said Sam Lakes, Lakes for Love founder. Sam Lakes founded the 501(c) non-profit last year.

At Tuesday’s city commission meeting, residents voiced their concerns. Despite the challenges, Springfield Mayor Rob Rue says he is personally striving for humane treatment of migrants. “Going to speak for myself as these are human beings that are here, and need to be treated humanely,” said Rue during the meeting.

Leaders with the Entertainment Software Association say video games may be a solution to spending more time with your kids, while also keeping them safe online. “You’re frustrated that your kids don’t seem like they want to do anything with you, pick up the controller and play Mario Kart,” said Aubrey Quinn, ESA vice president.
