Liz Clayman/Bar Bianchi Hitmaker of downtown bars, Jon Neidich, has been on a streak the past few months: He opened medieval Monsieur with Baz Luhrmann and refurbished dive bar essential Lucy’s, adding to his growing list of nightlife spots, which already included the Nines and Le Dive. This week, he debuts Bar Bianchi, a bar and restaurant made to look like the kind of leisurely hangouts in Milan where you’d be drinking a spritz with a cigarette in the other hand.

After restoring Kellogg’s Diner last year, the same team has turned its attention to reimagining another longtime Williamsburg haunt: JR and Son. Opening on Friday, May 2, at 575 Lorimer Street, the address was long ago an Italian social club, but in its later life, it was more known as a crusty dive bar — until its closing during the pandemic. At Kellogg’s, the choice to do a Tex-Mex diner stemmed from the lived experience of its chef, Jackie Carnesi.

Google Maps Pietro’s, an Italian steakhouse that was a fixture in Midtown East for decades, will return to Manhattan. Last year, news that Pietro’s had lost its lease made headlines. Now, Pietro’s is relocating a couple of blocks away from its former home of 232 East 43rd Street, to 890 Second Avenue, near East 47th Street. A press release circulated today that Lee & Associates and Stellar Management have facilitated the real estate deal, alongside a broker from Cushman & Wakefield.
