Big Brothers Big Sisters is still in need of people willing to step up and volunteer a few hours a month to be a “Big.”They have a long waiting list for boys right now. One of them is Achilles, who is in third grade. This week, Achilles told us about his love of fitness. “I like to run, I like to ride my bike, I like to lift weights,” Achilles said. “I just want a guy to hang out with.”We introduce you to this week’s Waiting Child in the video above.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for more people willing to volunteer as a Big. That’s as the waiting list for Big Brothers grows especially long. One of those on the waiting list is Aerion. He loves having a ball in his hands. “I play, basketball, football — any type of sports, to be honest.”He’s in his third year on the waiting list. “I’m a cool person, and they can talk to me. Emergency crews responded to a fire in Colona on Tuesday morning. It started around 5:51 a.m. in the 500 block of 3rd Street. Fire was visible in front door and windows when officials arrived. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire and prevent the spread to two nearby houses, despite the wind. One occupant was unaccounted for, but neighbors don’t believe he was home. The state fire marshal is investigating, and yellow tape was put up around the house.
