The Moline-Coal Valley School District has announced new assistant principals and dean for the 2025-2026 school year, according to a news release. The Moline Public Schools Foundation has approved about $40,000 in teacher grants for 2022-23. Jeff Whitaker has been named assistant principal for curriculum, instructionand assessment. Three new elected officials will take office on Monday, May 12 during the Rock Island City Council meeting at 6:45 p.m. Ashley Harris will be sworn in as mayor, Glen Evans as First Ward alderperson and Linda Barnes as Third Ward alderperson, a news release says. The third time was a charm for Paul Nienhiser of Chapin, Il. Nienhiser finished second to Chase Randall at Davenport in 2022. He also finished second to Scott Bogucki at Davenport in 2023. Friday night at Davenport Speedway, he did not finish second. Davenport Speedway (SR Promotions)Nienhiser started on the pole of the 25-lap main, but lost the lead to Tasker Phillips at the drop of the green. Phillips led the first four laps before a bobble cost him the top spot.
