Schaumburg officials favor reinstating a 1% local grocery tax the state is eliminating that would otherwise cost the village $4 million in lost revenue. The move will retain about $4 million in Schaumburg’s proposed budget. The move was not unexpected.

No injuries were reported from a fire that damaged all four units of a quadplex house in Schaumburg Monday afternoon. Firefighters and police received the call at 1:45 p.m. that flames were visible at the residential building at 1106 Regency Drive, Schaumburg Police Commander Christy Lindhurst said. The fire was extinguished by 2:55 p.m., though at least three of the four units had been declared uninhabitable for the time being, she added.
