MENOMINEE — The Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula purchased a home on 14th Avenue in December to serve as a recovery house for sober women trying to get back on their feet. Last Monday afternoon, home and community members gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a house blessing. The home, the Elizabeth House, was blessed by Bishop John Doerfler. MARINETTE — The City of Marinette has put up a streetlight on the corner of Dunlap Avenue and Stephenson Street after an alderperson’s wife petitioned the city to do so. At a recent Marinette Civic Affairs, Cemetery, Traffic & Lights Committee meeting, the committee’s chair and council alderperson, Debbie Klegin, said she received several letters requesting an additional streetlight at that intersection.

MENOMINEE — Over the winter, the ice and cold weather damaged two docks at the Menominee Marina. Tugboats, barges, small excavators and other heavy equipment had to be used to repair the damage. MARINETTE — As the newest Northeast Wisconsin Technical College graduates don their caps and gowns to receive their degrees and certifications Thursday, one graduate will fulfill a promise she made to her late grandfather to get her GED. Lizzy Zahorik finished the school’s GED program in September of last year. She dropped out of Crivitz High School in March 2022, three months before her sophomore year ended.
