SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS)- The Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched for a reported house fire in the 2900 block of Regent St. just after midnight on Monday morning. According to a release, Engine 8 arrived on scene within 4 minutes and reported heavy smoke and flames visible from the front of the home. It took the efforts of 10 fire units and 30 firefighters to bring the incident under control at 12:34 a.m.The residents were not home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

For the past year, the city of Shreveport’s water and sewerage has faced several issues with the quality of water, including elevated manganese levels and an unexpected algae bloom, which resulted in a strange taste and odor. Mayor Tom Arceneaux says improvements have been made.
