Plane makes emergency landing on North-South Corridor

SPOKANE, Wash. — Washington State Patrol (WSP) reported a small plane made an emergency landing in North Spokane. According to WSP, the plane made the landing because of an engine failure. The plane landed on the northbound lane of the North-South Corridor, just north of the Wellesley exit. No injuries were reported in this incident. WSP said both lanes are fully blocked while the plane is still on the street. There is no determined time for reopening at this time.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — You can always justify buying coffee when your purchase supports a good cause. Dutch Bros Coffee is hosting its 18th annual Drink One For Dane Day fundraiser on Friday, May 17. A portion of all drink proceeds will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), a non-profit focused on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research and advocacy. All Dutch Bros locations in the Inland Northwest are participating in the fundraiser.
Spokane Velocity FC names new goalkeeper for remainder of 2024

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Velocity FC will welcome a new goalkeeper to the team for the rest of the 2024 soccer season. The league announced Tuesday that Brooks Thompson will fill the goalkeeper position pending league and federation approval. The 21-year-old previously played for the USL Championship League’s Hartford Athletic and is on loan for the rest of the season to Velocity FC.
Washington State Patrol troopers looking for motorcyclists who left after crash

SPOKANE, Wash. — Washington State Patrol (WSP) troopers are looking for people who fled from a motorcycle crash that left two people seriously injured. According to WSP, callers reported a motorcycle crash left several motorcycles and riders on westbound I-90 just east of the Hamilton Street exit. Two people were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. WSP said motorcycles were "riding erratically" where the crash happened.
Body out of the Spokane River near Centennial Trail

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane County Fire District 9 (SCFD9) pulled a body out of the Spokane River south of Charles River on Friday afternoon. According to SCFD9, a kayaker near 9 Mile Dam called on a possible dead body around 5 p.m. SCFD9, with help from the Spokane Fire Department (SFD) helped retrieve the body from the water. The Spokane County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) is now investigating the incident. According to SCFD9, the body was in the water for "quite some time".

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — Grant County Sheriff's Office (GCSO) released new bodycam video on Friday of an incident that left two people injured, including a Moses Lake Police officer. Moses Lake Police Department (MLPD) first responded to the domestic assault call on May 4. The suspect fired shots at the MLPD officer talking to a man after he tried to get the suspect to leave the motel room. The officer shot back once the suspect opened fire.
Coeur d'Alene Police looking for driver involved in pedestrian crash

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Coeur d'Alene Police Department (CAPD) is looking for a driver who drove away from a pedestrian crash. According to CAPD, the driver of a white Honda Pilot suddenly turned in front of a blue Jeep. The Jeep then hit a person walking on the sidewalk, causing significant injuries. CAPD said the driver was driving northbound on 4th Street at the time of the incident.
Spokane downtown parking meters to be swapped out starting May 6

SPOKANE, Wash. — Dual parking meters in downtown Spokane will get swapped out for single-space meters starting Monday. The City of Spokane will install the new parking meters, bringing 400 single-space meters to the city. The old dual space meters will be reinstalled around the city. A map of the affected areas can be found here. The City said there will be no impacts to any, traffic, events, streets or sidewalks as installation is ongoing.
