After slim pickings for years, Georgetown finally gets in on Seattle’s buzzy bagel fun with Bloom Bistro. The charming, pastel-laden shop serves many terrific bagel varieties, schmears, and sandwiches worth enduring the roars of aircraft flying overhead toward Sea-Tac. In particular, the rosemary salt bagel—with its delicate herbiness—deserves some sort of yeast-based trophy.

New owners have taken over the former Good Day Donuts, with an equally sunny name that delivers on its promise. All the desserts at the small counter spot are simple but satisfying. We’re talking flaky maple bars, croffles with delicate strawberry frosting, excellent mochi, and old-fashioneds begging for a little coffee dip. There are lots of vegan varieties, too, which have such an airy texture that it’s hard to tell them apart from the udder-based options.

While it’s not the oldest public farmer’s market in the US or a pointy tower built for World's Fair, Dick’s Drive-In is just as much a part of Seattle’s history as any of the major local landmarks. What used to be included in this fine dining landmark’s prix fixe is now a line-item expense at $24 per person, prepared tableside. For a basic salad, it’s kind of a ripoff, but Seattle wouldn’t be the same without this BLT-in-a-bowl circa 1950—so, take our money. Forking bacon-laden romaine ribbons tossed in eggy dressing as a refresher between courses of tweezer food just feels right.
