Count your days, key lime. Sudachi is here for all of the accolades. The Japanese citrus in question does wonders to grace this pastry case winner. Jiggly-zingy custard is grounded by a salt-laced graham cracker crust, and on top, it’s abundantly clear: Reddi-wip walked so that this whipped crème fraîche could run. A candied shiso leaf takes the pie to an herbal place—and our hearts.

Atop the Populus Hotel is Pioneer Square’s newest (and apparently first) rooftop bar. There are small bites like Dungeness crab dip and pimento cheese profiteroles. But cocktails take up the most real estate on the menu. We’re talking an N/A espresso martini, a frozen cocktail that involves tequila and white chocolate, and clarified rum punch. Drive-thru coffee and fast food spots are all over the place, but ones that serve only pretzels, calzones, and pizza is pretty novel. Alki comes alive in the summer, and Sunfish is committed to the bit. Once the temperature consistently creeps above 65 degrees, people pack in here for excellent fried oysters, flaky cod and fries, and lemony calamari. You can enjoy it all just steps from Seattle’s version of a beach (mostly rocks, grass, and a miniature Statue of Liberty). Outsider BBQ is one of the newest (and best) reasons to head to Fremont when the idea of manning your own grill sounds like torture.
