This waterfront brewery is a free-for-all catered to the nature-conscious Seattleite. Bonus points if you brought your Australian Shepherd, are still wearing your bike helmet, or show up sopping wet after a kayak session. Yes, the vulture-like hunt for a table is tough. But at the end of it, you’ve got gluten-free watermelon beers and decent fish tacos. Great views (of both Lake Union and casual summertime fashion) are worth the headache.

And not only does it highlight a criminally underrepresented pasta shape, but it serves the best meal you’ll have inside a brewery.

You’re there for the chicken wings that are constantly fried fresh.

This Ballard palace of refrigerated beer and Doritos doubles as a teriyaki restaurant—but the best thing in the building is the homemade eggrolls. They’re practically as thick as a relay baton, filled with a balanced ratio of cabbage to juicy ground pork, and deep-fried to a pristine crisp. In fact, they almost border on overcooked, which to be clear, is correct.

Now that Tomo is shifting away from tasting menus and plans to open six days a week (including Mondays), White Center’s high-end American restaurant is much easier to get into than before. Whimsical signage and all, Marmalade in Fremont is here to completely ruin you for every Seattle-born gelato henceforth. Their freshly spun dairy is fluffy-light, and the flavors trend non-traditional without being hokey. Imported white chocolate imparts buttery depth to a scoop. Salted graham is as nuanced and nutty as advertised. And strawberry lemonade sorbetto has the velvety texture of soft serve.

"I’m from LA, and anytime I’m sick, I get chicken and rice soup or matzoh ball soup. And they don’t really have delis in Seattle [like LA’s.] Piroshky is a Russian place that has the best matzoh ball soup, the best borscht, and the best meatball and rice soup. It feels a little bit like home."“I’m gluten-free, so it limits certain things, but they have such good gluten-free options there. The kimchi pancake is a must. Obviously their cocktails are delicious. Short rib rice plate? Amazing.

Hidden below an apartment building in Pinehurst, there’s a coffee shop roasting Costa Rican beans in a miniscule space, and the result just works. Giddy Sloth is worth a visit if only for their tapa dulce latte, loaded with enough panela-infused syrup to sweeten stiff espresso without making it taste like a sack of sugar cubes to the face. Plus, you can pair it all with excellent chocolate chip cookies somehow prepared effortlessly in a countertop oven.
