There are few things more West Seattle than pouring Alki beach sand out of your shoes as a roller skater in a Speedo whizzes by. Sunfish is one of those things. This seafood shop closes over most of the winter, but comes alive once the temperatures get above 65 degrees. Their fish and chips are fantastic, and while you’re here, squeeze a lemon wedge over meaty Greek-spiced fried oysters for a perfect post-sun snack.

Let’s say you were in a terrible mood somewhere on the East Coast. You might end up eating a pastrami sandwich, or a Philly cheesesteak, or literally anything covered in buffalo sauce. Here, we have Tat’s for such soothing things. This is a dive with hoagies, wings, fries, and a lot of Pennsylvania-based sports team flags on the walls. Go for a cheesesteak with hot peppers, the Tatstrami, or a grinder stuffed with potato chips.

This waterfront brewery is a free-for-all catered to the nature-conscious Seattleite. Bonus points if you brought your Australian Shepherd, are still wearing your bike helmet, or show up sopping wet after a kayak session. Yes, the vulture-like hunt for a table is tough. But at the end of it, you’ve got gluten-free watermelon beers and decent fish tacos. Great views (of both Lake Union and casual summertime fashion) are worth the headache.

The Cavatelli Project is a bi-monthly, Thursday-and-Friday pop-up at Holy Mountain Brewing's Phinney Ridge taproom that combines the rollie-pollies in question with flavors from the American South. And not only does it highlight a criminally underrepresented pasta shape, but it serves the best meal you’ll have inside a brewery.

Your order: Flats & Whole WingsThis mini-mart located between Seward Park and Rainier Beach serves some of the best fried chicken in the city. While you could pop in for Funyuns and an Arizona Iced Tea, the glow of heat lamps and deep fryer smells will lead you to the good stuff waiting in a glass case. Safe to avoid the jojos and fries. You’re there for the chicken wings that are constantly fried fresh.
