ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Depends on your tolerance for this type of weather, but for some folks, today the was the first day of an oppressive amount of heat and humidity. Most communities measured a high temperature near 90 degrees with a heat index near 100 degrees. The heat index is the comfort level when combining the temperature and humidity. This will be a three-day event of mid-summer conditions with Monday likely being the peak of the steamy weather.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The most uncomfortable weather of the season is set to arrive for Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. It will be the combination of hot temperatures and high humidity that will create oppressive conditions for all of Western New York. High temperatures will be in the low to middle 90s which will challenge the records for each day. The heat index, which is the combination of temperature and humidity, will make it feel like 100 degrees at times.

The summer solstice is the moment when the Sun’s direct rays reach their northernmost point, shining directly over the Tropic of Cancer.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We were very fortunate in the immediate Rochester area during Monday’s thunderstorms. While we did experience some flooding, any tree or powerline damage was isolated and minimal. That was not the case, however, in the small community of Ellicottville in Cattaraugus County—located about 80 miles southwest of Rochester. Social media video from the area show significant structural damage, including what appears to be the second-floor roof of a building completely torn off.
