WEBB CITY, Mo. — A beautiful Friday paved the way for hundreds of Special Olympics athletes to compete today. Webb City High School hosted more than 300 kids who competed in everything from the 100-meter dash and long jump…to the javelin toss and low mobility contests. Participants come from 14 school districts with plenty of fans and one big name supporter… The KC Wolf. Student partners work with the Special Olympics athletes to navigate the day and make sure everyone gets to take part.

PARSONS, Kan. — One investigation tool is showing big results for the Parsons Police Department. A little over a year ago, the department set up their flock safety system. It’s a camera system connected to state and national databases giving the department real-time alerts on license plates — monitoring things like stolen vehicles — wanted suspects and missing people. The parsons police department has five of the cameras that have scanned 66-thousand license plates over the past year.

JOPLIN, Mo. — The city of Joplin is working to expand its trail system this year, including some unique features. “You know, our goal is to connect the north of Joplin to the south of Joplin with these projects going on right now. We’re getting that just one step closer,” said Paul Bloomberg, Joplin City Parks & Rec Dir. Expansion in Joplin’s trail system is pushing that change.
