    GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Wednesday night, the Grand Junction City Council decided on what to do with the controversial 4th and 5th Street pilot project. In a 4-3 vote the council passed the decision to revert the 4th and 5th Street corridor back to its original state before the pilot project began, but it doesn’t just end there. The motion also outlined that city staff will have leeway to adjust lane widths in the future to account for traffic safety standards as they see fit.

    GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - There’s a new addition at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. In April, a baby African penguin hatched, and at just 22 days old, the newest addition to the zoo only weighs a little more than two pounds. In 2024, African penguins were listed as critically endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List. The conservation list also showed the African penguin breeding pairs have fallen below 10,000.

    GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - There’s a new bill making its way through the Colorado legislature aimed at protecting immigration status. Senate bill 25-276 is called the β€˜Protect Civil Rights Immigration Status’. If passed this bill would add more protection for those in Colorado who are in the country illegally.

    GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Two kids and an adult were caught allegedly breaking into cars last week. Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 400 block of Sundown Drive in Grand Junction just before 4:30 p.m. last Thursday for a call about three men trying to break into parked cars. Deputies arrived and saw two men running away from the area. After an investigation, 22-year-old Dagan Wood and two juveniles were arrested.

    GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - Before booking a flight this year you may want to check your driver’s license. The real ID deadline is about a month away. After years of delays, the federal real ID deadline is officially set for May. Real IDs have been issued in Colorado since 2012, and most current licenses already have the star marked as compliant.
