SOUTH SIOUX CITY — Doug Koopman, the South Sioux City fire chief, was driving home from dinner at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday when he saw smoke coming from a pallet yard on the Old Sawmill Road. "I live in the area, and as my wife and I were coming back from grabbing supper — we drive past it every day — I'm like, 'Hey, there's smoke in the back of that building there, let's go check it out,'" Koopman said. He was quickly joined by South Sioux City Councilman Jasper Kriens, who works nearby.

The statements from Grassley, Ernst and the Iowa GOP Chair did not mention Trump at all. Bird's does:

Iowa AG Brenna Bird (R) on Reynolds decision: “In the weeks ahead, Bob and I will pray and consider what this decision means for our future. I appreciate the calls of encouragement I've already received.” #IAGOV https://t.co/N8aQqpOglK

RT @scj: Gov. Kim Reynolds, who has served as Iowa governor since 2017, announced she will not run for a third term this year. https://t.co…

Quite a new detail from @MasonDockter: Doug Koopman, the South Sioux fire chief, was driving home from dinner when he saw smoke coming from a pallet yard. It was, as Koopman described it, "by far the largest fire that we've had" since he became fire chief about 18 months ago.

So. Sioux City pallet yard fire cause is still under investigation https://t.co/so69nCbKoB
