MASSENA -- The St. Lawrence County Chamber will host SpringFest over eight days, running from April 20-27. Chamber officials Laura Pearson and Tiffani Amo were on hand for a recent Massena Town Board meeting, breaking down the list of events for board members and attendees. According to Pearson, conversations have been had with Cathy Moore of Liberty Utilities to start the event, which she said will be similar to Winter Fest in Canton.

MASSENA -- Massena village trustees have passed the 2025-26 budget, which will see a 2.5% increase to the tax levy. Trustees unanimously adopted the budget as proposed by Mayor Greg Paquin, approving a levy of $6,608,009 for fiscal year 2025-26. That figure is up from a $6,447,009 tax levy for the 2024-25 budget. As for the tax rate per $1,000 in assessed value, that figure is set to rise from $17.463366 to $17.752618, bringing in an additional $64,470.09 through assessed values.

MASSENA -- Massena Central School District taxpayers will have three opportunities to weigh in on the district's proposed $79.8 million capital project next month, with multiple forums planned in the townships encompassing the district. Superintendent Ron Burke said he and district officials will first hold a public forum on May 6 at 6 p.m. at Norfolk Fire Station 2, located on Route 420.
