ROCHESTER, Minn.-Family Promise Rochester will be receiving a $52,000 grant from the Mayo Clinic Community Contributions Program. Family Promise Rochester wants to operate in a space bigger than the one it currently resides in. Erin Sinnwell, the executive director of Family Promise Rochester, said the nonprofit has more than 30 families waiting to get a chance to stay for a few months at its current shared-living space.

ROCHESTER, Minn.-Despite some recent flurries, we haven't gotten that much snow these past few weeks, which has been good news for a sporting goods store. Ron vonBrethorst, one of the owners of Sports Headquarters, said too much snow discourages people from using the outdoor skating rinks in our area. He said that he's just hoping for consistently cold weather, preferably in the teens and twenties to keep the outdoor ice in top form. If it's 32 degrees or higher, then the ice will be too soft.

ROCHESTER, Minn.-Despite the busy travel weekend, it's been a quiet few days for a Kwik Trip in the Med City. Len Oelkers, one of the store leaders at the Kwik Trip on 55th Street Northwest, said a lot of people stopped by the station on Thanksgiving for last-minute food items since a lot of grocery stores were closed. Business was quieter than usual, though, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

ROCHESTER, Minn.-Rochester Dance Company got into the holiday spirit on Sunday by putting on a condensed version of The Nutcracker at the Rochester Civic Theatre. The company put this on in order to introduce kids to the story and characters of The Nutcracker. Before the show, kids could put on various nutcracker-themed temporary tattoos, have fun with activity sheets and coloring sheets, and snag photos with some of the cast members.

PINE ISLAND, Minn.-As part of American Express' 14th annual Small Business Saturday, there was a holiday expo today at Pine Island American Legion Post 184. Over a dozen different vendors were a part of this year's expo. Linda Kelly, one of the event organizers, said she wanted to help out buyers who weren't quite done with their holiday shopping and vendors who might've been passed over on Black Friday in favor of big-box retailers.
