Apr. 17—An anonymous donor is offering a $1,000 reward leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or people who vandalized Fountain Lake Park earlier this month. The Albert Lea Police Department announced over the weekend it is seeking the public's help in identifying witnesses and suspects involved in the vandalism of the park.

Apr. 17—An Albert Lea family with a long-standing restaurant in the community has branched out to offer a different type of cuisine for their third restaurant location in the city. Gyro Kingz, at 2319 Leland Drive, opened for customers at the beginning of April, specializing in Greek food, with a few international menu options, too. The Campos family has already made a name for themselves with The Taco King, which has locations downtown on Broadway and in a strip mall on Blake Avenue.

Apr. 16—The Freeborn County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Interim County Assessor Candice Lahann, about a month after the board brought her back for the role. In the interim role, Lahann has worked mainly in the evenings and on weekends but was still expected to supervise and monitor what is going on with the office. Before that, the county had been working with a county assessor in Houston County for interim services.
