ROCHESTER, Minn. - The National Transportation Safety Board has released its initial findings into a plane crash that happened on March 9th. The Beechcraft A23-19 airplane experienced an accident near Rochester on March 9, 2025, around 10:15 p.m. The pilot suffered minor injuries. The pilot reported a complete engine power loss during the initial climb at approximately 650 feet above ground. He heard a "click click" sound before the engine failed.

ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Olmsted County Board of Commissioners could choose a new county attorney Tuesday evening. County Attorney Mark Ostrem announced in January he would retire at the end of March. The meeting agenda shows applicants have been interviewed and the board may appoint someone to serve the remainder of the current turn, which ends in January 2027. The Board of Commissioners meeting starts at 6 p.m.

ROCHESTER, Minn. - SEIU Healthcare union members at Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital have voted to cancel a supplemental no strike agreement. SEIU representatives announced Thursday that 87% of members voted for the cancelation. Over 600 healthcare workers at Methodist are represented by SEIU. The vote does not mean workers are going on strike. Last year, SEIU represented employees at St. Marys Hospital voted to cancel their voluntary no strike agreement.

UPDATE: Highway 13 through downtown Waseca has reopened. A parking lot near the property is still being blocked off. WASECA, Minn. - A partial building collapse has closed S. State St. (Hwy. 13) in downtown Waseca, according to the Waseca Police Department. The 100 block of S. State St. will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic until further notice. There are no reported injuries and surrounding buildings have been evacuated.

ROCHESTER, Minn. - One woman has been arrested in connection with a shooting in southeast Rochester that happened Tuesday night. Officers were called out to a home on the 700 block of 7th Ave. SE around 9:40 p.m. A woman reported that another woman shot at her after an argument. The suspect was located a short time later at a home in the 1700 block of 50th St. NW. Mercedes Meyers, 28, faces felony assault charges. No one was injured.
