ROCHESTER, Minn. - A trial will go forward in the case of a woman accused of assaulting a child with a pizza cutter. On Thursday, an Olmsted County judge denied a motion to dismiss a 1st degree assault charge. Andrianna Newburn faces six total charges, including several assault charges and a charge for making terroristic threats. The Rochester Police Department says Newburn got into a fight with another woman at KinderCare childcare center on June 13, 2024.

ROLLINGSTONE, Minn. - The Winona County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a report of a drive-by shooting on May 24 at around 11:30 p.m.Investigators found two houses in the 100 block of Main St. had been struck by gunfire. Another home on the 23000 block of Speltz's Dr. had also been hit. No one was injured at either location. The sheriff's office is searching for a dark colored crossover SUV in connection with the incident.

DECORAH, Iowa - The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office says charges have been filed against former Howard County Sheriff's Office investigator Richard Hollenbeck. He's facing 4th degree theft charges, which is considered a serious misdemeanor. An investigation found Hollenbeck allegedly printed documents and used Howard County property, costing around $300-$750. Hollenbeck ran for sheriff of Howard County in the 2024 election.

BYRON, Minn. - Byron Public Schools will place an operating levy on the ballot in November. The district could be asking for $1.9 million. The funds would be used to maintain staffing, programs and keep class sizes appropriate to enrollment. The district sent out a survey to families and residents to gauge interest. Depending on the final amount of the operating levy, property taxes on a $350,000 home could increase by $20-$40 per month.

ROCHESTER, Minn. - An accident on southbound Highway 52 between 37th St. NW and 19th St. NW has traffic slowed to a crawl. MnDOT cameras show traffic being moved to the far left hand lane to get around the accident. Several emergency vehicles are on scene, including Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service and the Rochester Fire Department.
