ROCHESTER, Minn.-Wildfire smoke from the north has been blowing down towards Southeastern Minnesota. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued a statewide alert for air quality that expires Monday at 6 p.m.The National Weather Service in Lacrosse, WI. says upper level winds are coming from the northwest and blowing all that smoke into our area. NWS says there's a potential for the smoke to be brought down to the surface level.

Since the legislative session ended May 19th, lawmakers have been working hard to find common ground on bills like education, higher education, health and human services, transportation and taxes. State Senators Liz Boldon (DFL-Rochester) and Steve Drazkowski (R-Mazeppa) say the tax bill is a major sticking point in negotiations.

ROCHESTER, Minn.-The Rochester Salvation Army (SA) has a change in leadership coming this summer as current leaders Majors Cornell and Candace Voeller plan to move post to Budapest, Hungary. The Rochester Salvation Army says that Captains Michael and Kelly Hanton will be coming to take over from the Majors. The Hantons come from The Salvation Army in Hoffman Estates, IL, that's outside of Chicago. There, the pair served at the Salvation Army Territorial Headquarters.

The Rochester Gymnastics Academy (ROGA) has an opportunity for kids to learn more about the sport. ROGA camp counselor Camille Schiefert said, "We do get a lot of kids that don't do gymnastics and they just want to come for a week and they get to try out a new sport."At ROGA kids will become brave by making friends, creating crafts and learning how to flip across the floor.

ROCHESTER, Minn.-New technology will be taking off on Minnesota roadways soon. Minnesota's Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). The Road Safety Information System (RSIC) will be run as a pilot program in St. Cloud and if it's successful will be implemented across the state. St. Cloud was chosen to test the program because of its mix of urban and rural roads across a wide geographic area. RSIC takes real time and historical data to determine where crashes are most likely.
