    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Allies hosted its Breakthrough Conference on Tuesday, in which local and national leaders shared ways to combat crime, at a time when Memphis has already seen nearly triple-digit homicides in 2025. At the beginning of April, 22-year-old Matthew Williams was killed in a mass shooting in Southeast Memphis. More specifically, it happened outside the site of Memphis Allies, a nonprofit organization focused on reducing gun violence and homicides.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Detectives were called back to the Frayser neighborhood Wednesday evening in response to a deadly shooting. A man was found fatally shot and pronounced dead around 6:30 near Madewell Street and Madewell Cove. Resident Marcus Young said he took cover in his home when he heard seven or eight shots in the neighborhood. He said he had three grandchildren in the house with him, settling in for the night.
