    On June 5, Austin’s City Council voted to approve 10 contracts with artists for the commission of public artworks for the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA). Of the 10 contracts, six are with artists outside of Austin, though three of those are Texas artists. The selected artists who are based in Austin or have strong connections to the city are Steven Parker, Anahita Bradberry, Virginia Lee Montgomery, and Raul Buitrago.

    Foltz Fine Art, in Houston, has announced that it will hold a memorial service for artist Ibsen Espada, who died on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. The service will be held at the gallery (2143 Westheimer Road) on Wednesday, June 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arts Rescue Mission, a virtual outreach organization supporting aging artists in the visual, performing, and literary arts.     Bistro Menil, the iconic restaurant on the campus of the Menil Collection, has announced its upcoming closure. Chef Greg Martin, a native Houstonian, opened the restaurant in 2014 as part of the museum’s campus expansion. Inspired by regional food and wine from Spain, France, and Italy, Bistro Menil has since become a beloved dining space. Patrons flocked to social media to voice their surprise and sadness over the closure, as well as their appreciation for the restaurant’s decade of service.
