    Despite the high temperatures Thursday afternoon, riders in the National Pony Express Association's annual Re-Ride pressed on through south-central Nebraska and Dawson County on June 19. A group of riders ran late due to delays throughout the day from the extreme heat across the region. But a small crowd of eager onlookers were awaiting the Brady-Cozad riders at the 96 Ranch a few miles southeast of Gothenburg at the original Midway Station built in the early 1850s.

    GOTHENBURG — The Gothenburg Junior Melons won their Tuesday night home legion game 10-7 over the Broken Bow Juniors Post 126. Broken Bow got two runners on base and scored the first run in the top of the first on a fly ball to left field. Melon Braden Groteluschen retired the second to last batter on a strikeout and Gothenburg got the third out at first after a dropped third strike.
