MCCOOK — The Nebraska State Patrol is raising awareness about multiple overdose cases in southwest Nebraska in a press release on Tuesday, June 3. In the last three days, there have been two overdose cases in the area. NSP has been in contact with several local agencies regarding the potential of a connection between these cases. Both cases are believed to involve similar counterfeit pills, made to look like legitimate prescription pills.

GOTHENBURG — The Gothenburg Melon Juniors Post 64 added their first win of the season after defeating the Imperial Horns Juniors 9-1 on Friday, May 30 in Gothenburg. Imperial started off with two runners on base, but Melon Owen Ross cleaned up the rest of the first inning with three straight strikeouts. The Melons had two runners on base in Ross and Dillon Floyd and one out before going on a huge hitting run.

COLUMBUS — The Hi-Line Bulls and Overton Eagles were in tight competition a the Class D Boys State Golf Tournament over May 28-29. Overton finished round one on Wednesday, May 29 with a team score of 367 and Hi-Line trailed by two strokes with a day one team score of 369. The outcome of day two put Hi-Line ahead of Overton with a round two score of 352. Overton finished day two with a score of 358.
