SHAWNEE, Kan. (KCTV) - Police took a suspect into custody early Tuesday morning after shots were fired in a Shawnee neighborhood. Shortly before 5 a.m., June 17, officers responded to a shots-fired call near homes at 67th and Midland Drive in Shawnee. A suspect fired several rounds, and an officer returned fire at that suspect before taking him into custody. No one was hit in the exchange.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of their own. On Sunday, 29-year-old Graham Hoffman, a paramedic-firefighter for the department, was stabbed while transporting a patient. The woman responsible, Shanetta Bossell, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in connection to his death. If convicted, she could be sentenced to life in prison.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) confirms the deaths of two teenagers following prom Saturday. The crash happened late on April 19, around 11:15 p.m., as Jose M. Placensia Castañeda, 17, was driving south on Metcalf near Johnson Drive. He crossed the median and hit an oncoming vehicle head-on. KHP said Castañeda and his 18-year-old passenger, Itzel Guerra, both died of their injuries. Neither was wearing a seatbelt.

Irish or not, crowds packed the streets, decked out in green eager to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.
