Investigators in the north suburbs say several thieves were responsible for a very rapid string of burglaries early Friday morning. Police in Highland Park say five thieves smashed their way through the front doors or windows of six businesses in the suburb's downtown and three more along Skokie Valley Road. Investigators say the vehicle used in the thefts was stolen and was also linked to a commercial burglary shortly afterward in Deerfield.

Six baby foxes apparently abandoned by their mother in far northwest suburban Cary this week and suffering from the cold appear to be doing better. A woman found the baby foxes, also known as "kits," in a window well at her home on Wednesday night, when the temperature in the area reached 31 degrees. Workers at the Flint Creek Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Barrington rescued the kits.

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Nearly 51 years after a 15-year-old girl disappeared from the south suburbs, police are once again asking for anyone with information about her to come forward. Nancy O'Sullivan disappeared on March 9, 1974. She was last seen in the area of Homewood or South Holland. Homewood Police Chief Denise McGrath says the case has never been forgotten.

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A lawsuit accuses police in north suburban Evanston of framing a teenager who spent 24 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit. The lawsuit claims Evanston police knew that Frank Drew, who was 16 at the time, was not responsible for the shooting death of 15-year-old Ronald Walker in 1996. Attorney Alyssa Martinez of Loevy and Loevy, who represents Drew, says Evanston police verbally and physically abused Drew until he confessed to the killing.
