The 2024 annual Elders and Youth Conference started with registration on Saturday and showcases vendors, traditional cultural practices, dances, speeches and ceremonies at the Dena’ina Center in Anchorage through Wednesday night. Registration is required for this event.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU/Gray News) - The family of an Alaska man said he was killed Wednesday when a piece of equipment fell on him while he was working. Nelson Holder, 67, of Eagle River, was a bus mechanic for MV Transportation, a Dallas-based company whose services include school transportation and shuttles. Holder was working with a 7-ton jack at the time of the accident, the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development said.
