PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – There’s no question that the heat can be dangerous, but when it spans over several days, it can be even worse. As Portland experiences its fourth day of high temperatures, residents are feeling the effects as first responders keep up with an increased need during the first weekend of June. American Medical Response had a 20% increase in transports due to the heat on Sunday, and officials say the elderly, unhoused, and people living alone have been the most vulnerable.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Multnomah County is preparing for the hottest weekend of the year so far, warning residents that the first weekend of summer-like heat is always a concern. The National Weather Service announced a heat advisory from Sunday through Monday with temperatures reaching 92 to 96 degrees throughout the Willamette Valley, SW Washington, the Columbia River Gorge, and the Hood River Valley.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The Portland Police Bureau joined the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office to share the results of a large-scale retail theft bust in Portland last Friday. The operation turned up more than $3000 of stolen merchandise, and ended with 36 arrests. Portland Police said this large mission stretched from the Eastport Plaza in Southeast Portland to downtown, and up to Jantzen Beach.
