Don Turley, an 83 year-old man whose family says has dementia, is still missing after 9 days. A Silver Alert has been issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Don is bald with hazel eyes, he is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. He was last seen on Tuesday, January 7th at around 8:54 am in the area of 1st Avenue and Mohave Road in Parker, possibly trying to hitchhike to Indiana.

CRIT breaks ground on reservation wide high speed internet

The Colorado River Indian Tribes is moving closer to having high speed internet now that ground has been broken on a project to install a fiber optic network. The groundbreaking ceremony took place December 18th outside the CRIT offices. Chairwoman Flores, the Tribal Council, representatives from the USDA, and Ackerman Consulting were among the attendees.
Arizona Attorney General sues Saudi-owned farm in La Paz County over water use

The Arizona Attorney General has announced legal action by her office against a Saudi-owned farming operation that has met with public scrutiny over its usage of La Paz County water, which it uses to grow alfalfa for export to Saudi Arabia. AG Kris Mayes announced the legal action, saying that the company, Fondomonte, is violating Arizona’s nuisance laws by using an excessive amount of water.

KLPZ’s Keith & Juanita to retire after more than 30 years on air in Parker

Keith Douglas and Juanita Learn, owners and hosts of the flagship morning show at KLPZ 1380am, have announced their retirement after more than 30 years on the air in Parker. The end of their tenure on December 31st marks the end of an era for listeners. Keith first came to Parker after being offered the job at KLPZ just before Thanksgiving in 1992. He had been working at KZRX in North Dakota and various other stations.
Stephanie McDowell named County Administrator

The La Paz County Board of Supervisors named lifelong Parker resident Stephanie McDowell as the newly appointed County Administrator in a process that began in August, replacing the outgoing Megan Spielman. In a press release, the three Supervisors said that McDowell had emerged as their unanimous choice that will lead the County into its next chapter of growth and success. The recruitment process, which began on August 26th, attracted fourteen qualified applicants.
CRIT and feds take historic first steps to create a new reservoir on reservation

The Colorado River Indian Tribes has signed a historic letter of intent with the federal Bureau of Reclamation as first steps in creating a new reservoir on the CRIT Reservation. CRIT Chairwoman Amelia Flores and Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Camille Touton signed the agreement side by side in Las Vegas on Wednesday at the Colorado River Water Users Association conference. Reclamation signed various agreements with several tribes at the event.
