Meteorological winter runs Dec. 1 through Feb. 28, and during that time period the city officially registered 11.9 inches of snowfall, according to WGN-TV weather producer Bill Snyder. “We’re down well over a foot of what we would normally see in Chicago,” Snyder said. “This is the least snowy meteorological winter in 88 years.”The average snowfall for meteorological winter is 27.5 inches.

CHICAGO — Fans hoping to complete a Red Line Doubleheader — attending a Cubs and Sox home game on the same day by traversing the CTA Red Line — will be out of luck in 2025. This year, the two teams will only play one three-game series on the same overlapping days in Chicago. The Cubs will host the Milwaukee Brewers and White Sox will host the St. Louis Cardinals June 17-19, but the games will start around the same time. There were three Red Line Doubleheaders in 2024.
