Meteorological winter runs Dec. 1 through Feb. 28, and during that time period the city officially registered 11.9 inches of snowfall, according to WGN-TV weather producer Bill Snyder. “We’re down well over a foot of what we would normally see in Chicago,” Snyder said. “This is the least snowy meteorological winter in 88 years.”The average snowfall for meteorological winter is 27.5 inches.
