As Chicago Cubs fans desperately wait for further news on Shota Imanaga's injury, there is another injury that they can lower their panic levels for. In the 9th inning of the Cubs' 4-0 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, outfielder Kyle Tucker was spotted at second base getting his knee looked at. After Tucker stole second base, he was visited by the Cubs' training staff as they looked at his knee. Tucker appeared to be fine and stayed in for the remainder of the game.

If there was one player the Chicago Cubs could not lose for any significant amount of time, it would be Shota Imanaga. With Justin Steele already out for the rest of the season after undergoing elbow surgery, it now seems that the Cubs will be without Imanaga for some amount of time. After cruising through the first five innings against the Brewers without giving up a run, Imanaga was nearly out of the sixth inning when he came up short in an attempt to cover first base.

Noted Chicago Bears fan, George Kittle, made news this week, signing a four-year contract extension with the San Francisco 49ers worth $76.4MM. In the days before the draft, Kittle was absent from the 49ers' mini-camp, suggesting that he could be a holdout during training camp if the two sides couldn't come to terms on a new deal. However, a potential holdout from Kittle wasn't the only thing the 49ers were dealing with during the week of the draft.

The prevailing takeaway from the Chicago Bears' 2025 NFL Draft was that Ben Johnson's vision is now the priority at Halas Hall. With their first three selections in the draft, the Bears took offensive players. In highlighting Johnson's importance moving forward, it should be no surprise that the Bears took tight end Colston Loveland with their first-round selection. Loveland, despite some having him graded behind Penn State's Tyler Warren, has drawn comparisons to Sam LaPorta of the Detroit Lions.

Given that the Chicago Cubs' offense is one of the best offenses in Major League Baseball, Cubs fans may not be aware of the start to the 2025 season that former Cubs prospect Matt Prospect has had with the Miami Marlins. Traded by the Cubs to the Marlins in January for utility infielder Vidal Bruján, Mervis had been making headlines earlier in the season with a stretch where he hit 5 home runs across 6 games. Since then, Mervis has cooled down.
