The Finney County Health Department reports that a resident over the age of 50 tested positive for measles after recently traveling out of state. The department said they have not yet determined if the case is connected to any known measles outbreaks in the U.S.According to reports from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, this case marks the 25th measles case in the state.

    WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Wichita Police Department released crime statistics Friday from the first three months of 2025, which show a downward trend in all major crimes across the city. The chart includes unofficial numbers for part one violent crimes – murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault – and property crimes – burglary, larceny, auto theft. Murder cases are down 73% according to WPD, with three cases reported in 2025 so far, compared to 11 at this time in 2024.

    NEOSHO COUNTY, Kan. (KWCH) - A woman is dead after a head-on crash in southeastern Kansas Thursday morning. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 8 a.m. in Neosho County on Highway 169 just north of 70th Rd. The patrol said 55-year-old Janee Umbarger of Chanute was traveling northbound on the highway in an SUV when she veered into the opposite lane and struck hit another SUV heading southbound. Umbarger was pronounced dead at the scene.
