SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A mother in Shreveport has been arrested after her child was found by a school bus driver running around outside naked during Tuesday afternoon’s (May 6) severe weather, police say. It all happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday near Sussex Avenue and Corbett Street. A Caddo Parish Public Schools bus driver passing by spotted a young child around 3-years-old running naked in the street during a storm. When officers got there, the child was taking shelter on the bus.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A powerful line of storms moved through the ArkLaTex Tuesday, May 6, causing power outages, street flooding, and some damage. The line moved through Tuesday afternoon, starting in east Texas and moving into northwest Louisiana. As of 4:30 p.m., nearly 11,000 people were without power in Louisiana, primarily in Caddo Parish. Nearly 6,000 people in east Texas were without power too, with the highest number of outages in Harrison County.

That’s because student loan payments are staring back up after a five-year pause. Many students in the area have concerns about this. A financial aid advisor KSLA spoke with also has some tips on what people can do to prevent their loans from going to collections. Millions of Americans may soon be notified about their student loan debt being sent to collections.

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - The Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County is issuing a warning to parents about a prevalent internet crime that impacts children and teens. It’s called sextortion, a crime in which minors are threatened or coerced into sending explicit images online. The Child Advocacy Center is using a documentary to bring awareness to the issue. That movie is called “Sextortion: The Hidden Pandemic.” Last year, Sedgwick County received about 60,000 tips concerning sextortion.

GODDARD, Kan. (KWCH) - Rochelle Mann is a music teacher at Amelia Earhart Elementary School in Goddard. She said it’s hard to miss a beat, but due to overwhelming class sizes, she said it’s happened. As the only music teacher at the school, Mann spends about 25 minutes with each class. She said those classes range in size from 21 to 27 students. “That’s a lot of bodies to be able to do hands-on work with each student in the class so that they can reach their highest potential,” Mann said.
