A suburban Chicago family is demanding changes to Illinois' controversial SAFE-T Act as the man accused of concealing their daughter's death walks free, awaiting trial. Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Wednesday. He's facing multiple felony charges, including concealing the death of 37-year-old Megan Bos. Bos' body was discovered in a storage container on Mendoza-Gonzalez' Waukegan property in April. She'd been missing for more than a month.

A 10-week workforce training program based in Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood is working to better prepare students of all backgrounds for jobs in the clean energy sector. This spring, nine young adults with varying degrees of education and experiences took part in the hands-on solar installation training program. May is Brain Cancer Awareness Month, and a suburban mother is sharing her story in hopes of shining a light on a cancer population often overlooked. Kathy Hammond Pittman knew something wasn't right in June 2024 when she felt a mysterious pain. Hammond Pittman said she felt pain in her arm at work and experienced slight heart palpitations. After a workout class with her daughter later that day, she also felt numbness in her lip.
