    NEWTON TWP, Ohio (WKBN) — A quick-thinking mom helped keep a house fire from worsening in Newton Township. It happened just after 4 p.m. on South Canal Street. Newton Falls Fire Chief James Williamson says a child was playing with a torch lighter in a bedroom closet when the fire started. The mom was able to close the bedroom door, keeping the flames from spreading. Williamson says the damage is estimated at $25,000. No one was hurt. Nadine Grimley contributed to this report.
