    SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Evans County Board of Education voted to part ways with Superintendent Doctor Martin Waters, Monday night. According to a statement from the Evans County Charter School System, the board and superintendent mutually agreed that Dr. Waters will end his service effective May 31, 2025.

    RINCON, Ga. (WTOC) - The City of Rincon is warning of a homicide suspect at large, and residents are reminded to lock their homes and cars. Investigators are searching for 19-year-old Demarion Quinton Butler. He is considered armed and dangerous. Butler is 6 feet tall and weighs 175 pounds. He was last seen on West 7th Street near Stokes Avenue wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. According to the City of Rincon, U.S. Marshals and Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies tried to apprehend Butler.

    SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Chatham County Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Wilmington Island, Thursday evening. Crews found smoking coming from the roof of a building just before 9:00pm on Johnny Mercer Blvd and Wilmington Village Way. The department says crews worked to suppress the fire on the roof. The funding is from the African American Mayors Association and in partnership with the American Beverage Foundation. The City of Savannah says the money will go to local initiatives that promote access to healthy foods, improve nutrition education and address affordability in underserved communities.
