SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Temperatures this weekend have the possibility to break record highs in Siouxland. Back in 1988, there was a three-day stretch of record breaks lining up with this weekend. The forecasted high for Sunday is expected to meet that record, having the highest probability to be broken. Friday does have the possibility to also break the record, though its chances are lower with the forecasted high being below the record that was set in 1988.

This has prompted Excessive Heat Watches to be issued in Siouxland that will go into effect Friday morning and last until Saturday evening. The shift to southern winds will be important, as we start to see temperatures rise through the end of the week.
