SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — It’s been fairly quiet so far this season it terms of severe weather, but the chances return as we head into the end of the weekend and start of the new work week. The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has already placed parts of Siouxland under severe risks Sunday and Monday that KCAU 9 and the weather team will be monitoring closely. There is a chance of showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms Sunday afternoon or evening into the overnight hours.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — UPDATED 7:32 PM FRI 4/18/25–Severe storms swept the region Thursday afternoon in the early morning hours of Friday, leaving behind substantial damage for some areas and dozens of storm reports, from large hail to wind damage. Isolated storms began to develop along the Iowa/Minnesota border through mid afternoon Thursday. No warnings were issued within Siouxland as a stronger storm pushed north/northeastward through, primarily, Dickinson County.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — UPDATED 10:42AM FRI 4/18/25–Several rounds of severe storms moved through the region Thursday afternoon through early Friday morning, mostly in the form of hail, but even creating some downed wires in parts of the region. There were three rounds that moved through the region, with the first line coming through between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon in northeastern Siouxland. This brought severe weather, mainly in Emmet and Dickinson counties in northwest Iowa.
