HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Pennsylvania State Police announced they will engage a third-party expert to conduct an independent security review of the Governor’s Residence after a man broke in and set fire to the estate last Sunday. According to State Police, authorities are continuing to work with partners in law enforcement to investigate the arson attack and attempted homicide at the Governor’s Residence on April 13.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM)– Cleanup efforts began at the Governor’s residence in Harrisburg early Tuesday morning after a suspected arsonist threw multiple Molotov cocktails inside the home as Shapiro and his family slept Sunday. Cleanup trucks were seen traveling to and from the property on Tuesday morning. Cody Balmer, 38, the man charged in connection to the crime, stuck his tongue out at camera crews multiple times as he made his way into court Monday.

(WHTM) — Pennsylvania State Police say an early morning fire at the Pennsylvania Governor’s Residence, which prompted several people to evacuate, was “an act of arson.”Pennsylvania State Police and Harrisburg authorities were called to the historical site at around 2 a.m. Sunday, Harrisburg Fire Chief Brian Enterline told Nexstar’s WHTM. He noted that crews encountered a fire in the first-floor area, which was quickly contained.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM)– Police said Cody Balmer, the man charged after the Governor’s residence caught fire early Sunday morning, allegedly revealed his motive for the incident. An “arsonist,” identified by police as 38-year-old Cody Balmer of Penbrook, allegedly set fire to the Governor’s residence in Harrisburg while the family was asleep inside. Court paperwork is now revealing a possible motive in the case.
